RABAT, Sep 21 (PRIME) -- The first stage of Russia’s Yamal LNG liquefied natural gas plant is expected to be launched in November, Energy Minister Alexander Novak said Thursday at a meeting with his Moroccan counterpart Aziz Rabbah.
“This year, we have a launch of a new plant built in the north of our country. The plant, which Novatek is building jointly with French and Chinese partners. The most modern in the world, the most modern technologies. Grandiose, large-scale construction, we are launching the first stage in November. The plant’s total capacity is 16.5 million tonnes,” Novak said.
The Yamal LNG project envisages construction of a 16.5-million-tonne LNG plant on the basis of the Yuzhno-Tambeiskoye field on the Yamal Peninsula. Russian independent gas producer Novatek holds 50.1% in the project, France’s Total has 20%, China’s CNPC owns 20% and China’s Silk Road Fund holds 9.9%.
